As God’s messenger, the Archangel Gabriel informed Mary that she was to give birth to the baby Jesus. Led by a star above the manger, three wise men travelled from the East to adore the child. Gabriel and the three holy kings – Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar – are additions to last year’s Steiff Nativity Scene. Each of the kings wears a crown and bears a gift, while their capes and clothing match the relevant shade of mohair. The somewhat larger Gabriel appears entirely in white. With its interplay of white and earthy tones, the four are a stylish addition to the Holy Family with their ox and donkey in the spruce wood manger.
