End of the Trail by Steven Van Houten, Tennessee, USA, made in 1995

£395.00

Inspired by the similarly named 1918 sculpture, depicting a weary native American returning from a hunt, this primitive-style work is a true museum piece. The exhausted bear is made of sparse and distressed, dusky pink mohair. His horse is made of brown mohair with a blond mohair mane and tail. The feathered headdress, saddle and reins are all made of felt, which Steven has aged and painted. The bear comes with a hand-crafted spear. The saddle is signed and dated. With hand-written plaque. Originally made for Teddy Bears of Witney and direct from our collection, this piece is as new with stand and certificate. Work by Steven Van Houten is extremely scarce.
