Earl Frederick is modelled on a circa 1920s American bear Ian bought in San Diego in January 2017 from Susan Elliott, who was selling bears from her late mother’s collection.
This perky bear is made of short pile, brass-gold mohair with clear and black glass eyes and a gentle smile. He wears a sailor collar, crocheted socks and soft leather boots. He has the typical features of 1920s American ‘stick-bears’ – an upturned head, short arms and a long body. Softly filled and weighted with plastic pellets.
